Thing 23

I enjoyed learning about Web 2.0. It made me feel like I was back in school learning something new. Most of the information was new to me. My favorite part about Web 2.0 was the chance to work with other staff and help each other with Thing 22 Listen NJ. I shared my blog with my family. I am looking forward to using a wiki for children's services.

The END.

Listening to Green Eggs and Ham

I followed the steps and needed assistance to download the audio book Green Eggs and Ham.
I listened to the story at the reference desk just before the library closed on Friday.
Listen NJ will become a useful tool in the future for patrons that have difficulty traveling to the library.

The following has more information at www.npr.org.The term podcast, like broadcast, can refer either to the series of content itself or to the method by which it is syndicated.

This youtube video is by Neil Diamond. It is the song Be and is one my favorite songs to listen to.
It is also interesting to watch Neil Diamond singing in action. Searching YOUTUBE on the internet was fun. There were several musicians that I watched in concert and listened to the music.

Blog about a web 2.0 award winner

Under the health link there is www.medstory.com with information from Medlineplus and the nih. This would be good to use for patrons that come from the doctor's office looking for more information about a certain ailment.

Google docs or Zoho

Google docs or zoho could be used after staff meetings and have the person taking notes type in the meeting notes and then everyone could go back in and add anything that is missing and sign their name that they have read the meeting notes.

Also google docs could be used for projects for youth services that requires input from each youth service librarian.

Blogging about it

This is an interesting way to find out about other staff and what is important to them. The tasks are not difficult but can be challenging at times. It has been sort of difficult to find the time in between other duties to keep up with each week's assignment for me. Teamwork has aslo helped me with the assignments and I am grateful to my co-workers for helping out here and there. Thanks!

Sandbox

I went into the sandbox and added the term Dark Chocolate under favorite foods.

Wikis

Library Success: A Best Practices Wiki is useful to share ideas all in one place and the information is all organized by topic. There was nothing that I disliked about the wiki.

Library 2. and Web 2.0

With Library 2.0, library services are frequently evaluated and updated to meet the changing needs of library users. Library 2.0 also calls for libraries to encourage user participation and feedback in the development and maintaining of library services.

Technorati

Searching learning 2.0 brought up some interesting information on Technorati.Technorati is an Internet search engine for searching blogs, competing with Google & Yahoo. Education is lifelong and as the technical world advances it is important for those in the field to keep up with the advancements and changes that occur on the web.

del.icio.us).

Del.icio.us is a way for other people to view what you have tagged and saved.
I signed up and added the del.icio.us icons and found out that you don't need to do that.

World Cat

World Cat is an excellent database filled with information. Some of the positive things about the World Cat is that it can show you the library location of a specific title.

NetLibrary

Netlibrary is easy to use and filled with a lot of ebooks. After signing up and looking through an ebook, I feel that I could share this information with a patron.

RSS Feed Pages

Technorati was fun to use and helpful to find information from websites

Topix.net was also easy to use and informative

Syndic8.com was not as easy to understand

RSS Feeds

I liked the way you can personalize your blog with common internet searches.

The library can use this tool to organize the information from one site.

7 1/2 Habits

habit 2 - I have accepted responsibility for my own learning, especially when I was in school. I was always asking questions and participating in class.

habit 4 - Have confidence in yourself, is not to difficult for myself.
habit 5 - create your own learning toolbox, is easier for me today than in the past.
habit 6 - use technology to your advantage, is a good way to stay up to date with things around in the work place as well as at home
habit 7- teach or mentor others, is something that the job requires as a librarian at reference duty.
habit 7 1/2 play, comes very easy for me and is good to share with others
